I have reputation of being overly cautious, a scaredy-cat... and sometimes its easy to become discouraged- so sometimes I need to remind myself...
I've been out of the country several times.
I've climbed a volcano.
Ridden roller coasters.
Climbed (very high) ruins in Tikal (Guatemala) to see a location from Star Wars.
Driven across the country.
Gone camping.
Been in jungles.
Seen the Pacific and the Atlantic Oceans.
Cut and dyed my own hair multiple times.
Acted in plays.
Played live music.
Taught piano.
Lived by myself.
Ridden horses.
Been a camp counselor.
...and I'm sure there's lots more. But seriously, that's a pretty cool list.

Looking forward to spending the day in Cincinnati with my mom tomorrow morning/afternoon.
Gah- now I need to learn how to use Lightroom. I'm going to feel like an idiot for a bit...

New mix up on 8tracks...
a mix to remedy any sort of "romantic-drama-nonsense" you may have going on. Happily enjoying being single- I can do without all the crap that comes with liking a guy and having him lead me on for the upteenth time... enjoy!

listen,
music
So- it is officially spring (by our calendars- I don't think Ohio has caught the hint quite yet) and I am on the hunt for some new music for a new season.
These two albums by Daniel Martin Moore are sweet and mellow- In the Cool of the Day features old hymns done quietly and stripped down, my favorite being "It Is Well with My Soul". (Which, coincidentally, I first heard on an episode of Parenthood. Love that show so much!)
And... the Freelance Whales are just fun. Have a listen. I've been sampling all these via Spotify.
I have a couple new mixes to upload soon, and hope to be back with photos and updates about my upcoming
trip!

My best friends, Hannah and Ethan, are expecting their first little one in May. The first weekend in March, I helped her family throw her a baby shower... looking forward to meeting Lily!
Hannah's momma hosted the event at her lovely home (whenever I'd answer the door, people would ask in wonder, "is this your house!?" and I would quickly respond, "I wish!")
We threw the shower open-house style, no schedule of events or games. Hannah opened presents in the living room for those who wanted to watch and interact, and we had yummy treats and drinks in the other rooms.
I spent the better part of two evenings that week dyeing and creating coffee filter peonies/roses to strew about the room- and they turned out beautifully. (just search on Pinterest, there are tons of tutorials) Snacks, cupcakes and other yummies were brought by friends and house church ladies.
The lovely homemade presents below were made by our amazing friend, Allison, for baby Lily. Handmade things are so wonderful- and Allison is so talented!

This week I am in the process of moving. Please excuse the silence around here... I am in a whirlwind of packing, boxes, sorting through things, cleaning and trying to get paperwork and everything started for my trip! Its nuts.
I am seriously enjoying a little time off work though... due to some vacation hours as well as an unexpected delay from weather... spending time with my parents, picking out a birthday present for my niece, trying out a new foundation, figuring out how to style my new, short hair, trying to plan out meals/healthier eating and listening to All Sons & Daughters, The Longing EP.

Hey guys, guess what?
From the band:
"After seven years of crafting music as The Autumn Film and Page CXVI, Reid Phillips, Latifah Phillips, and Dann Stockton are giving away their catalog for the entire month of March. Eleven albums, seventy-four songs, two bands. Think of it as a Jubilee. Think of it as a sweet springtime gift. Think of it as something to share with everyone you know.
Starting Friday, March 1st, all of the albums from both bands will be available to download for free athttp://pagecxvi.com/jubilee, and we would love your help with spreading the word."
I highly recommend The Autumn Film/Page CXVI's music. Their version of 'Be Still My Soul' is one of my favorite songs, both as a listen, but also to play musically. (ask anyone, pretty much whenever I sit down at a piano I pull it out.) And the song lyrics speak straight into my soul. (is that too dramatic? Sometimes a bit of the young, angsty, poetry writing teenage Emily sneaks out to play...)
Honestly, them giving away their music comes at such a cool time... I was just thinking to myself the other day, how much I would like to have bought all their hymn albums- but financially, it just hasn't been something I'm able to do. So I stream the songs I have access to when I'm at home, but I've known that soon, I won't be home... and the convenience of streaming music 24/7...
...then I saw this! So excited.
